Coupon Abbreviations and Lingo

Now that you are using coupons you will find there is a secret coupon language.  Ok, well not so secret, but you will see some shorthand from time to time and this list will help you decipher what you are seeing.  I am sure I missed some so let me know if I am missing one and I will try to update the list as things change or new shortcuts come up. 

• 1/1, $1/2, etc. - One dollar off one item, one dollar off two items, etc.
• 2/$1, 3/$2, etc. - Two items for one dollar, three items for two dollars, etc.
• BOGO or B1G1 - Buy one item get one item free
• B2GO or B2G1 - Buy two items get one item free
• Blinkies - Coupon dispensers with blinking lights
• Cat - Catalina coupon these print from a separate machine when your receipt prints
• ECBs - ExtraCare Bucks, CVS loyalty rewards system
• FAR - Free after rebate
• Hangtag – Coupons found attached to products
• IPQ - Internet printable coupon
• MFR - Manufacturer
• MIR - Mail-in rebate
• OYNO - On your next order
• OOP - Out of pocket
• P&G – Procter and Gamble (usually referring to Sunday insert i.e. 11/13 P&G tells you the date and which insert the coupon was found in)
• Peelie - coupon found on product packaging
• PSA - Prices starting at
• RP - Redplum
• RRs - Register Rewards, Walgreens Catalina coupons
• SS - Smartsource
• UPC - Universal Product Code, bar code on a product
• WYB - When you buy
• YMMV - Your mileage/manager may vary basically, some stores may allow you to do a deal and others may not.
